Mazda: Several Suna Editions Coming Soon

Even after the recent arrival of a multitude of new models in its lineup, it seems that Mazda still has a few surprises for us. Several vehicles from the brand will receive a special Suna edition for the 2024 year/model.

In Japanese, the name "Suna" simply means "sand," and that's what explains the chosen color to accompany this new special edition that will be offered for the Mazda 3 Sport, MX-30, CX-30, and CX-5. Elements that are not the same color as the body, such as the wheels and grille, have simply been painted in glossy black, creating a nice contrast with the metallic zircon sand color of the Suna editions.

Performance at the forefront

Mazda is one of the few car manufacturers that doesn't follow the crowd and charts its own course, which I greatly admire about the brand. One of the aspects on which the Japanese automaker has focused the most is the dynamic driving experience of its vehicles. You simply can't get bored behind the wheel of a Mazda car or SUV, and that's what the Suna edition aims to celebrate.

Except for the MX-30, all Suna special editions will benefit from the Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine. It is a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine whose power varies depending on the chosen octane rating. Mazda announces a power output of 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with 87 octane fuel. The power increases to 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque with a 93 octane rating. Mazda is one of the few manufacturers that offer this dual power rating. Furthermore, all Suna editions equipped with a gasoline engine will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard.

Mazda has also capitalized on the sand/black theme inside the Suna special edition with Terracotta upholstery, black suede inserts, and terracotta stitching. There are also some dark bronze accents.

Further details to come

The metallic zircon sand color is exclusive to the Suna versions. However, it is not yet known if other colors will also be available for these models.

The pricing range for these special editions is not yet known either. However, Mazda has mentioned that it will be unveiled individually when each new 2024 model is introduced to the market. Personally, I love this color and the contrast it provides with the black-painted elements. In my opinion, this special edition is likely to be very popular when it arrives on the market in the coming months.
