Mazda 3 2024: A Small Update

The Mazda 3 and Mazda 3 Sport have received a few improvements for 2024. Although the focus is mainly on new technologies and enhanced safety features, the Japanese manufacturer also offers a new Suna special edition for its compact car.

For 2024, the Mazda 3 is discontinuing the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Instead, the entry-level engine will be the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a power output of 191 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, which is 44 horsepower more than the 2.0-liter engine. The Mazda 3 will thus provide a more dynamic driving experience than ever before as standard. Additionally, the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine is equipped with a new cylinder deactivation technology, enabling the Mazda 3 2024 to achieve an estimated average fuel consumption of 8.4 L/100 km in the city and 6.3 L/100 km on the highway, according to Natural Resources Canada.

The Skyactiv-G Turbo engine also remains available for 2024. This turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine delivers a power output of 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque.

Technological Improvements

Versions equipped with the 10.25-inch display receive a new multimedia system interface. Mazda has also enhanced its safety technologies, which are now standard on the GS trim of the Mazda 3. The base GX trim also receives some additional safety features.

A Suna Special Edition

The major novelty in the 2024 Mazda 3 lineup is the Suna version. This is a special edition that features a Sand Metallic Zircon paint, 18-inch black metallic-finished wheels, and several other black-painted elements to offer an interesting contrast. Unsurprisingly, this new special edition is positioned at the top of the range for the Japanese compact car.

Slight Price Increase

The elimination of the 2.0-liter engine from the lineup, coupled with the addition of new features, has resulted in a price increase for the Mazda 3 in 2024. Fortunately, the prices remain reasonable, starting at $24,200 for the Mazda 3 and $24,950 for the Mazda 3 Sport.
